|Win or Lose… We Still Had the Best Grand Puba AND Tailgate!

The Sun Devils did not end the season with a great game, but they did end it with a great Grand Puba! Dave Berman, also known as “The Big Guy”, rallied the troops and made quite the scene at the Territorial Cup. Dave is the head of the Scottsdale Quarterback Club, a group that takes tailgating quite seriously! His family and friends were there for the crowning moment and everyone agreed he deserved more than anyone in Sun Devil Nation! 
Before the game started, AT&T Sparky Central prepared for the big game with the Ultimate Tailgating Party. AT&T customers stopped by to hang out, play games and of course get free food and grub. It was really fun getting to catch up and have some fun before the game started! Despite the frustrating football season, it’s clear that nothing gets in the way of Sun Devils having fun!

Next Stop: Duel in the Desert

I know… we are all bummed about how the season is turning out. However, there is one opportunity for redemption! If ASU can beat U of A this weekend the season won’t be so bad after all. That is why all you Sun Devil fans need to be in full ASU spirit and of course, have high hopes. Oregon defeated the Wildcats last weekend and this should give us all confidence that we will knock them down again!
Since this is going to be the rowdiest game of the season, we are going to need the most intense fan around to represent Sun Devil nation. Sun Devil Nation Dominated LA!

Another Sun Devil loss was put in the books Saturday, but ASU fans proved yet again that they are hardcore no matter how the team fares on the field. Maroon and Gold filled the stands. I was so proud to see how many Sun Devil supporters made the trip from AZ!
One of those ultimate fans was Kevin McKee. Kevin won a trip to the game from AT&T and got flown to Los Angeles and put up in a hotel!

Who Has What it Takes to be the Grand Puba for the 2009 Duel in the Desert?

The Sun Devils has a rough game against USC, but you wouldn’t have known it from the excitement of the Grand Puba of the game, Corey Driggs. Corey has definitely set the bar high for all future Grand Pubas. He was actually marching through the stands waving his scepter to get the crowd going. Corey is an alumnus of Arizona State and now lives in Tucson. Needless to say, Corey cannot stand the U of A Wildcats and even though we were playing USC, he showed up in a “Fork U of A” t- shirt. Plus, Corey has a stuffed toy cat that is battered and hanging from a shredded U of A flag that he brings to every single ASU football game. Corey is very passionate about being a Sun Devil!
The next Grand Puba is going to have to try to outdo Corey though, because November 28th is the Duel in the Desert and U of A is going down! This is undoubtedly the craziest game of the year for ASU because we are taking on our Arizona rival! If you think you have what it takes to represent Arizona State as the Grand Puba enter now!! The team is hitting the road for a couple of weeks with their first stop in Oregon against the Ducks. On November 21st they will be at the Rose Bowl to take down UCLA Bruins and guess what! The First Ever Grand Puba was Crowned!

Well, Cal showed up to win at the last minute Saturday. While the loss was a bummer, Sun Devil fans still had a great time. I got to watch the game with our first ever Grand Puba, Brian Tamburelli. He was really into the action and definitely had the spirit of a leader by getting on his feet for every play. He also enjoyed holding up his scepter and yelling “Puba” for everyone to hear. Brian is a graduate of Arizona State and with as rowdy as he got at the game, I think he really was the ultimate Sun Devil fan. He was psyched for his on- field recognition at the game!
Before the game the entire AT&T Sparky Central Crew and myself hung out ASU fans. We had a ton of fans stop by to make Sparky Grams and give shout outs. It was so fun seeing everyone dressed up in their Halloween costumes. We had Ninja Turtles, a banana, a cow, and many more! They definitely had some very entertaining Sparky Grams.
